A Public Declaration
Baptism doesn't save you — Jesus does. But it is a powerful act of obedience and a bold declaration that you belong to Him.
"We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."
Jesus commanded baptism for all who follow Him. It is one of the first steps of discipleship and a direct response to the Great Commission.
Baptism says to the world — and to yourself — that you have chosen to follow Jesus with your whole life, not just in private.
We celebrate every baptism as a church family. This is one of the greatest moments we get to share together as a community.

An Outward Symbol
Water baptism is a public declaration that you have committed your life to Jesus Christ. Baptism doesn't make you a Christian — it shows the world you already are one.
Think of it like a wedding ring. The ring doesn't make someone married — it's a symbol of a promise already made. In the same way, baptism symbolizes your commitment to Christ and your departure from your old way of life.
"And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes."
Jesus Saves You
Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone — not through any action we take, including baptism. Baptism is a response to salvation, not a requirement for it.
"God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it."
By Full Immersion
At Prayer Culture Church, we baptize by fully immersing a person in water — following the New Testament pattern. The Greek word for baptism, baptizo, literally means "to immerse or submerge." Jesus was baptized this way: after His baptism, He "came up out of the water" (Matthew 3:16).
Being lowered into the water pictures the death and burial of your old life of sin — the person you were before Christ (Romans 6:3–4).
Rising out of the water pictures Christ's resurrection — and your resurrection to a brand-new life in Him (Romans 6:5).
Those methods use water, but only immersion fully shows the death, burial, and resurrection that baptism represents (1 Corinthians 15:3–4).
Believer's Baptism
Anyone who has personally put their faith in Jesus Christ can — and should — be baptized. The New Testament pattern is always belief first, then baptism: those who "received his word" were baptized (Acts 2:41), and Lydia was baptized after the Lord opened her heart to Paul's message (Acts 16:14–15).
If you've made a commitment of faith, whether last week or twenty years ago, and haven't been baptized, we encourage you to take that step in obedience to His Word.
A Decision They Make
We don't practice infant baptism, because Scripture shows baptism following a person's own decision to trust Jesus — and an infant can't yet make that confession of faith.
For children, baptism is a wonderful step when they're ready — old enough to understand what it means and decide for themselves to follow Christ (Acts 10:47–48). If your child has decided to follow Jesus, our team will help you with next steps.
